Jonathan Dokler wins 2020 WSOP Online Event #1
Jonathan Dokler has won the first event of the 2020 WSOP Online, securing his first gold bracelet and $130,426 in prize money. The WSOP Online is in full swing with Event #1, the $500 No-Limit Hold’em Kickoff seeing 1,195 players with 520 rebuys vying for the first-place finish. The prize pool pushed just over the $770,000 mark and all eyes were on Phil Hellmuth as he was trying for bracelet number 16. But it was not to be, as Hellmuth finished in 11th, with Dokler, aka Art.Vandelay as he is known online, came up with the win.
Tough Final Table:
Once the event got down to the final table, there would be six players remaining. Dokler would use this time to begin amassing a large chip stack. He was up against a tough field, including Tony Dunst, a gold bracelet winner.
Dokler would essentially run the table of the online poker event, eliminating four of his competitors, including the last two, before earning the win. Once heads-up began, Dokler would hold a 19.1 million to 6.5 million chip lead over Justin “MadTitan” Turner.
On the final hand, Turner held 10-6 up against Dokler’s pocket fours. Dokler would earn a straight to knock Turner out of the competition and become the first bracelet winner during the WSOP Online.
